Sanwo-Olu Appoints Oyekanmi New LTV Boss

LAGOS, NIGERIA — In a major move aimed at strengthening and restructuring the state’s broadcast infrastructure, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi as the new General Manager of Lagos Television (LTV).

​The appointment follows the recent disengagement of the station’s erstwhile General Manager, Mrs. Sola Kosoko.

​The Official Handover

​The official transition was finalized on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja. The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, presented the formal letter of appointment to Mr. Oyekanmi during a brief ceremony.

​Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Agoro emphasized that the Governor’s decision was rooted in Oyekanmi’s long-standing track record of dedication, diligence, and selflessness within the state’s public service framework.

​”This appointment recognizes years of unblemished and selfless public service. We have absolute confidence in Mr. Oyekanmi’s capacity to reposition Lagos Television, drive innovation, and boost its competitive edge in today’s evolving media landscape,” Agoro stated, while wishing the new helmsman an impactful tenure.

​A Decorated Three-Decade Career

​Mr. Oyekanmi steps into the leadership role at LTV with over 30 years of robust, cross-sector experience spanning advertising, public relations, and global export services across both private and public industries.

​Before his promotion to the pinnacle of the state’s premier television station, he served as the Director of the Strategy Centre at the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy—a high-level position he occupied from 2022.

​His journey in the state’s civil service began over two decades ago, on March 1, 2000, when he joined the Ministry of Information and Strategy as a Public Affairs Practitioner. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a strategic state communicator and a staunch advocate for media responsibility, often representing the state at high-profile media functions to challenge the press to remain guardians of the democratic process.

​Academic and Professional Profile

​An indigene of the historic Isale Eko area of Lagos Island, Mr. Oyekanmi is highly regarded within professional media circles and has earned multiple accolades for his contributions to journalism and public communication. His academic and professional credentials include:

• ​Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA): University of Lagos (UNILAG).
• ​Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Education: Lagos State University (LASU).
• ​Professional Affiliations: Active member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
• ​Leadership Roles: Leadership enthusiast and the current Charter President of the Lagos State Ministry of Information Toastmasters Club.

​Beyond his institutional duties, the new General Manager is an avid reader and a passionate lawn tennis player. He is expected to immediately assume duties and layout a fresh strategic direction for LTV 8.
