RHI Brings Solace To Ondo: 1,800 Bags Of Rice Distributed To Vulnerable Groups

​AKURE — The machinery of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) spearheaded by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, berthed in Ondo State on Tuesday, bringing immediate relief to thousands of vulnerable residents.

​The high-profile humanitarian outreach, hosted at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure, featured the distribution of 1,800 bags of rice and essential food items to widows, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and indigent households drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state.

​Represented by Hajia Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, the First Lady emphasized that the RHI Food Outreach Scheme—launched in March 2024—remains a cornerstone of the federal administration’s strategy to combat child malnutrition and household hunger. She lauded strategic partners, notably the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa)—the personal philanthropic fund of BUA Group Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu—for consistently supplying truckloads of monthly provisions to sustain the nationwide intervention.

​Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who received the federal delegation alongside his wife, Mrs. Esther Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, hailed the initiative as a profound testament to President Bola Tinubu’s compassionate governance and drive to alleviate poverty.

​Reiterating the state’s alignment with federal socio-economic blueprints, Governor Aiyedatiwa seized the moment to restate Ondo State’s political trajectory, declaring total solidarity with the presidency.

​“We have already declared Ondo State for Tinubu 2027 and we remain unwavering in our resolve to deliver en masse in the Sunshine State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term,” Governor Aiyedatiwa affirmed.

​The Governor noted that the humanitarian outreach seamlessly intertwines with his administration’s “OUR EASE” Development Agenda, which prioritizes social welfare, human dignity, and the protection of vulnerable families.

​The event drew an elite assemblage of dignitaries, including Ondo State Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami; the Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola; the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; visiting governors’ wives from Osun, Ogun, and Jigawa States; cabinet members; traditional rulers; and security heads.
