Controversial street-pop artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has once again shaken the entertainment landscape with a series of bold declarations. Speaking during a fiery appearance on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, the “Zazuu” crooner asserted that no Nigerian musician can secure a coveted Grammy nomination or award without securing a feature from him.
Portraying himself as the reincarnation of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, the singer maintained that his cultural influence remains unmatched in the contemporary music scene.
”If any artiste wants to collect a Grammy in this Nigeria, if you don’t feature me, you won’t collect it. If you want a nomination, come and feature me. I am the new face—the newborn Fela,” Portable stated.
Expanding Empire Into Celebrity Boxing
Beyond his musical proclamations, the outspoken artist turned his attention to the sports arena, boasting about his financial success and revolutionary impact on celebrity boxing in Nigeria. Claiming earnings surpassing ₦100 million from the sport, Portable positioned himself as the driving force behind the industry’s growth.
Shifting focus to his next career moves inside the ring, the singer boldly challenged veteran musician Terry G to a high-profile boxing match. According to Portable, a bout against him is precisely what the veteran needs to relaunch his career and recapture public attention.
”If Terry G fights me one-on-one in boxing, I swear to God he will rise again. People will remember him,” he declared, confirming plans to pursue the matchup following his upcoming international obligations and a high-stakes rematch.
