The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has officially debunked a wave of viral “ambush” reports, labeling them as desperate psychological warfare by Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants. Military officials confirmed today that the insurgents, currently facing massive losses on the battlefield, have resorted to recirculating decade-old media reports and photos to simulate a strength they no longer possess.
One specific report being weaponized by the group dates back to July 2020. The military’s fact-check mechanism verified that these recycled images of fallen soldiers are being mischievously shared to create panic. Contrary to these claims, OPHK has not lost 20 soldiers in any recent engagement; instead, the frontline reality shows a surge in successful air and ground assaults against the terrorists.
Sustained Victories Across the North East
The military’s rebuttal comes on the heels of a highly successful week of operations. In a series of coordinated strikes, troops delivered “decisive blows” to terrorist enclaves in Miyanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram. Insurgents attempting to regroup in these areas were neutralized, leaving behind a significant cache of weaponry, including anti-aircraft platforms and rocket bombs.
Further intelligence-led operations have choked the terrorists’ financial and logistics pipelines:
- Chabbal Checkpoint: Vigilant troops intercepted 37 million naira in cash and critical supplies intended to fund insurgent activities.
- Komala (Konduga LGA): 16 insurgents were neutralized during a pursuit along the Gidan Kaji axis, with 20 bicycles and essential survival gear destroyed.
A Call for Public Vigilance
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for OPHK, emphasized that the military remains resolute in its mission. He urged the public and media organizations to verify security-related content before sharing, noting that spreading unverified, recycled media only serves the propaganda goals of a degrading enemy.
As the military maintains its dominance in the North East, the focus remains on the total restoration of peace and the complete dismantling of the remaining terrorist logistics networks
