The couple, parents to three children, became the center of a horrific domestic incident that unfolded over two days. Police have confirmed the sequence of events, linking Ayoola directly to both the murder and his own death .
Incident Details
The violence erupted around 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, during a domestic dispute at the family’s home. Ayoola allegedly stabbed his wife fatally, prompting their daughter to raise the alarm; despite efforts, Ganiyat succumbed to her injuries . Ayoola fled the scene, sparking a manhunt by security agents and residents who circulated e-flyers declaring him wanted .

Discovery of Ayoola’s Body
On Friday, January 9, around 5 p.m., Ayoola’s body was found in an open field at the new Palmgroove CDA site in Sotubo, Ogun State. Witnesses noted foamy discharge from his mouth and a nearby bottle suspected to contain Sniper, a poisonous substance, indicating suicide . He was found gasping for breath and pronounced dead by a medical doctor .

Police Confirmation and Investigation
Ogun State Police Command spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi verified the incidents, stating preliminary findings point to suicide after the murder. Items recovered—two mobile phones, a voter’s card, and an ATM card—confirmed Ayoola’s identity and ties to the case . The couple’s three children are now with relatives, and the case has transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for deeper probe .
