
ABUJA — Dr. Mary Oluwaseun Adebayo of Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School (Senior), Obantoko, Abeokuta, has emerged as Nigeria’s Overall Best Teacher for 2026.
Adebayo clinched the prestigious national title at the Federal Government’s President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards, held in Abuja as part of the World Teachers’ Day celebrations. Alongside winning the Best Public Senior Secondary School Teacher category, she outshone competitors nationwide to claim the overall crown, receiving a brand-new car as the star prize from the government.
Reflecting on her journey from humble beginnings in a private institution to national prominence, Adebayo expressed profound gratitude. “I started this work in a private school. I kept doing the work, I did not know the Lord will reward me this way,” she remarked.
