OSOGBO

A massive federal security operation is descending on Osun State. NSCDC Commandant-General Ahmed Abubakar Audi ordered the deployment of 10,200 personnels on Monday, August 10, 2026, ValidViewNetwork reports.

Checks by ValidViewNetwork confirm National Public Relations Officer Babawale Afolabi announced the order in Abuja the same day.

The Deployment

Some 10,210 personnel and specialised tactical units began moving into Osun on Monday. Findings show roughly 1,000 officers each came from Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, and Lagos commands. Kwara, Edo, Kogi, Delta, and FCT commands supplied the remaining reinforcements, ValidViewNetwork gathered.

The personnel will reinforce the Osun State Command through the August 15 election. “The safety and security of election materials and electoral officials are very critical,” Audi said.

A Mirror Of Ekiti’s Playbook

NSCDC deployed the identical 10,000-personnel figure for Ekiti’s governorship election on June 20, 2026. INEC declared APC’s Biodun Oyebanji winner in Ado-Ekiti on June 21, 2026.

Oyebanji secured a landslide 319,224 votes, roughly 85 per cent of valid ballots cast. The same federal security template now lands in Osun, a state Accord Party currently governs.

Police Add 15,000 More

Commissioner of Police Samuel Erale Etaifo disclosed a separate 15,000-personnel deployment in Osogbo on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

He said the force includes conventional police, specialists, a dog section, and Police Mobile Force units. “Arrested violators of electoral laws will be moved straight to Abuja,” Etaifo said.

Combined, NSCDC and police deployments now exceed 25,000 personnel for a single state election.

Words Turn Sharp Between Camps

Minister Gboyega Oyetola told APC supporters in Osun on Saturday, August 8, 2026, that Adeleke should prepare to lose. “They realised that they are already losing out,” Oyetola said.

Governor Adeleke responded through spokesperson Olawale Rasheed on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Adeleke accused Oyetola of coordinating police assaults on Accord Party members statewide.

The Imole Campaign Council separately claimed seven Accord members died in recent political attacks. It further alleged more than 60 supporters remain in police detention, ValidViewNetwork reports.

The APC’s Osun campaign council, led by Wole Oke, rejected the claims entirely. It counter-alleged that more than 30 APC members and supporters faced similar attacks.

EFCC Freeze And Assassination Claims Raise The Stakes

Adeleke accused the EFCC of freezing Osun’s statutory allocation account without a court order. He challenged EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede over the move in Osogbo around August 6, 2026.

“This action was taken without any court order,” Adeleke said.

The Osun State government also claims Adeleke’s son, known as B-Red, escaped an assassination attempt recently.

ValidViewNetwork could not independently verify the alleged assassination attempt as of press time. Separately, a source alleged a secret meeting was held in Oke Oniti in July 2026.

The meeting reportedly planned attacks on tricycles displaying campaign materials for APC’s Munirudeen Oyebamiji, known as AMBO.

What The Presidency Might Be Signalling

Osun’s election pits an opposition-held state against a federal government-backed APC challenger.

Deploying over 25,000 security personnel mirrors the scale federal forces used in Ekiti. Supporters of the deployment cite genuine violence; killings, shootings, and dozens in detention already.

Critics, led by Adeleke’s camp, read the same numbers as pressure on an opposition state.

Both readings will remain contested until August 15 delivers a verdict of its own. Twenty-five thousand security personnel for one state election says as much about anxiety as safety.

Ekiti’s landslide suggests heavy federal deployment tends to favour the party that ordered it.

Whether Osun follows that pattern or breaks it will shape more than local politics. For a president eyeing 2027, August 15 may matter well beyond Osun’s borders.
