Nigeria is experiencing a troubling communication crisis: a growing national habit of amplifying negative narratives while ignoring or downplaying positive developments. At home and abroad, many Nigerians instinctively highlight failures, scandals, and pessimistic projections. This reflexive pessimism has become a national behaviour, shaping how citizens see themselves and how the world sees Nigeria. This pattern has become a form of self‑demarketing, weakening national confidence, damaging global perception, and undermining collective progress.

The second Monthly Global Discourse of ValidViewNetwork will focus on confronting this rising culture of pessimism and negative self‑projection. The Global Discourse will hold on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (WAT) and will be streamed virtually via Zoom and YouTube.

The Monthly Global Discourse is ValidViewNetwork’s signature global conversation platform conceived to bridge the gap between knowledge and action by creating a forum where global perspectives meet local realities. Through robust discussions and evidence-based engagements, the initiative seeks to promote informed decision making, public awareness, policy innovation, and sustainable development.

Each edition features at least a Distinguished Discussant who provides authoritative insights on the selected theme, guided by a structured moderation process that encourages reflection, critical thinking, and constructive participation.

The second edition is dedicated to shifting the national narrative from one of self-inflicted reputational damage to constructive, solution-driven engagement, ValidViewNetwork reports. The theme of the upcoming session is “National Demarketing and the Nigerian Psyche: Resetting Nigeria’s Public Mindset.”

According to the statement released by the Founder & CEO of ValidViewNetwork, Kayode Ogunjobi PhD, FHEA, FFAN, some of the forces that appear to be driving the crisis are: “A deepening culture of cynicism where negativity is equated with intelligence, social media amplification that rewards outrage over balanced analysis and diaspora disillusionment that often spills into harsh, uncontextualised criticism of the nation”

The statement further affirmed the purpose of the meeting “This second edition of the Global Monthly Discourse seeks to confront this issue boldly and constructively”

This second edition proudly features Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director‑General, National Orientation Agency, alongside Dr. Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of Council, NIPR, as our Distinguished Discussants for this critical global discourse.

Mr. Lanre Issa‑Onilu, Director‑General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), is uniquely positioned to lead this critical global conversation. As the head of the institution constitutionally mandated to drive civic education, value reorientation, and national consciousness building, his expertise sits at the heart of the theme. The DG brings a strategic, policy‑grounded perspective on how national attitudes are formed, how harmful narratives spread, and what must be done to rebuild a balanced, confident, and responsible national mindset. His participation will provide authoritative guidance, deepen public understanding of the communication crisis, and illuminate practical pathways for restoring civic pride and national cohesion.

Dr. Ike Neliaku, the 15th President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), is an exceptionally strategic personality to this edition of the ValidViewNetwork Global Discourse. Dr. Neliaku stands at the core of the nation’s reputation‑management ecosystem leading the foremost professional body responsible for ethical communication, national image building, and public perception. His extensive experience in public relations, strategic communication, national branding, and policy advocacy makes him one of the country’s most authoritative voices on how narratives are shaped, distorted, and corrected. At a time when Nigerians increasingly amplify negative stories and unconsciously damage the nation’s global standing, his insights will offer a professional, evidence‑based pathway for repairing Nigeria’s image and resetting the national mindset.

With the NOA Director‑General and the NIPR President leading the conversation, the event promises to reset the public mindset, rebuild civic confidence, and restore a balanced national narrative, ValidViewNetwork reports.

The maiden edition, held on June 28, 2026, featured Prof. Labode Popoola FFAN, Executive Secretary/CEO of the African Forest Forum, Kenya, who led a rich conversation on Nigeria’s forest insecurity. He warned that “forest governance must be treated as a national emergency,” a powerful submission that culminated in a 15‑point communique outlining urgent actions for safeguarding Nigeria’s forests and strengthening national environmental security.

The session was formally opened by Mr. Olanrewaju S. Ogundipe, former NUJ and AUJ President and Chairman of the Advisory Board of ValidViewNetwork Media.

The Global Monthly Discourse is a virtual meeting which comes up every Sunday of the month from 6:00-8:00PM (WAT).

ValidViewNetwork invites all stakeholders—professionals, thought leaders, politicians,  and patriotic citizens—to participate in this vital dialogue. The session promises to move beyond mere criticism to explore actionable strategies for fostering a more resilient and optimistic national identity.

ValidViewNetwork platform is a platform where experts, professionals, policymakers, technocrats and citizens converge for solution-driven conversations on national and global issues. Together, these components form a unified ecosystem dedicated to ethical communication, democratic engagement, and development-oriented public enlightenment.

ValidViewNetwork Limited, founded by Kayode Ogunjobi, PhD, FHEA, FFAN, stands firmly on three strategic legs—ValidViewNetwork Media, ValidViewNetwork Consultancy, and ValidViewNetwork Advocacy working together to deliver credible news reporting, expert environmental and academic consultancy services, and strong public-interest advocacy. Through this integrated structure, the organisation advances evidence-based communication, sustainable development solutions, institutional strengthening, and community-focused interventions that support environmental protection, academic excellence, and societal well-being

Participants from all over the world would be free to participate, share their opinions and ask questions. Those who would like to drop their questions ahead of the day can send to Validviewnetwork@gmail.com and put their name and phone numbers. Links to the meeting will be provided before the date.
