The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has formally arraigned Musa Saidu Koki, the former Managing Director of Buffah S.K. & Co Limited, before Justice F. E. Messiri of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Jabi, Abuja. The arraignment, which took place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, centers on a five-count charge involving allegations of advance fee fraud and obtaining money under false pretenses totaling N108,068,500.00.
Allegations of Deceit
Court documents reveal that Koki, also known as “Alhaji Baffa,” allegedly misled multiple parties by misrepresenting his ownership status regarding a property located at Plot 526, Cadastral Zone CO4, in the Guzape district of Abuja.
According to the prosecution, the defendant allegedly obtained N7,000,000 from Justice Enenche in August 2024 as an agency fee, falsely claiming to be the beneficial owner of the plot while entering into a joint venture partnership. Furthermore, the charges indicate that in December 2024, Koki allegedly induced Voice Real Estate Limited into a separate joint venture agreement to develop the same plot. The prosecution claims this caused the company a loss of N97,568,500. It is alleged that Koki presented the land as free from encumbrances, despite knowing the true beneficial owner was Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
Court Proceedings
During the arraignment, Koki entered a plea of “not guilty” to all charges brought against him.
Following the plea, prosecution counsel F. O. Dibang requested that the defendant be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending trial. Conversely, defense counsel T. Tonye pleaded for his client to remain at liberty under the terms of his existing EFCC administrative bail.
Justice Messiri ruled in favor of the defense, allowing Koki to maintain his administrative bail. However, the court imposed a condition requiring the defendant to submit his National Identification Number (NIN) slip and Bank Verification Number (BVN) to the court registrar.
The case has been adjourned until July 29, 2026, for the continuation of the trial.
