The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action in Kaduna State by sealing 50 outlets for selling edible oil in unhygienic conditions.
This operation was conducted as part of a sensitization workshop aimed at educating dealers on Registration Procedures and Food Management.
According to a statement released by NAFDAC on Saturday, the sealing of the outlets was carried out to prevent potential health hazards associated with the consumption of oil processed in unsanitary conditions.

Mrs. Josephine Dayilim, the Director of the North-West Zonal Office, highlighted the risks of consuming oil processed in such environments, which include food poisoning, gastroenteritis, and even cancer due to inadequate processing and the use of corrosive equipment.
Dayilim stressed the importance of using food-grade materials and maintaining hygienic production environments to ensure consumer safety.
This action by NAFDAC underscores its commitment to safeguarding public health by enforcing regulations and standards in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
It aligns with previous efforts such as the raiding and sealing of over 1,300 patent medicine stores in Kano’s Sabon Gari open market in February, as reported by Valid View Network.
