Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a massive haul of illicit substances valued at over N10 billion at major entry points in Lagos, dismantling international drug syndicates in a series of sweeping operations.
The nationwide clampdown featured the seizure of high-grade cocaine destined for the United Kingdom, concealed inside the structural walls of foodstuff packaging cartons at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Further intelligence tracking exposed a notorious clothing merchant from Balogun Market, Lagos Island, alongside coordinated syndicates utilizing cargo agents and couriers to traffic narcotics across borders.
At the seaports, anti-narcotics officers uncovered thousands of sachets of Canadian Loud—a potent synthetic strain of cannabis—weighing nearly 2,400 kilograms and valued at over N7.1 billion, expertly hidden inside vehicles packed within shipping containers. Additionally, joint examinations at the airport’s cargo terminals exposed billions of naira worth of pharmaceutical opioids, including millions of pills of Tapentadol and concealed tramadol consignments originating from overseas routes.

Complementing the port and airport operations, anti-narcotics teams and regional security units arrested multiple suspects across Katsina, Kaduna, and Edo states, recovering hidden caches of military-grade ammunition alongside massive warehouses stocked with cannabis and skunk.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), commended the striking formations for their unwavering tactical synergy, vowing that the agency will sustain its aggressive, balanced approach toward stamping out transnational drug trafficking and supply networks.
