Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has welcomed leaders from the National Union of Edible Oil Tanker Drivers of Nigeria (NUETDN) in a key meeting to bolster safeguards for edible oil supply chains. This collaboration arrives amid rising concerns over substandard oils and tanker hygiene in Lagos markets.
Meeting Highlights
Mrs. Peace Ettiong, Joint Committee Secretary representing Chairman Omooba Adeyinka, pledged the union’s dedication to upholding product safety, quality controls, and full regulatory adherence during oil transport and delivery. LASCOPA General Manager Afolabi Solebo, Esq., praised the outreach and vowed stronger ties with industry players to foster transparency and deliver safe goods to consumers.
The engagement underscores recent union efforts, including a March 2 stakeholders’ forum with FRSC, Navy, VIS, and others to enforce hygiene protocols in edible oil operations.

Broader Context
Nigeria faces ongoing risks from substandard edible oils, with NAFDAC issuing ultimatums for tanker compliance and warnings against unregistered products like FINO and PUR that threaten public health. LASCOPA’s push aligns with state expansions, such as new annex offices in Epe, Ojo, and Isolo set for March 2026 commissioning.

Both sides committed to joint consumer awareness drives, stakeholder forums, and ongoing talks to protect buyers in Lagos’s bustling edible oil sector.
