Influencer Shay Martin Remarries One Year After Husband’s Passing

California — Navigating the delicate intersection of profound public grief and private renewal, social media creator Shay Martin has announced her marriage, exactly one year after losing her late husband, Tanner Martin, to stage 4 colon cancer.

The marriage, revealed through an Instagram video on Sunday, August 2, marks a significant chapter for an online personality whose family journey resonated with millions worldwide. Tanner Martin passed away in June 2025 at the age of thirty, following a fiercely public, five-year battle with the disease that began when he was just twenty-five years old.

In a statement provided to media outlets, Shay emphasized the continuity of affection rather than its replacement.

”Love does not erase love,” Shay stated. “Tanner will always be AmyLou’s dad, and he will always be an important part of our family and our story. I will always love Tanner.”

The couple’s documentation of Tanner’s diagnosis drew widespread support, culminating in the birth of their daughter, AmyLou, in May 2025, just weeks before Tanner’s passing. Throughout his final years, the pair shared health updates, turning a deeply personal trial into a beacon of resilience. Following Tanner’s death, Shay evolved their shared digital footprint into a memorial space and launched the podcast Grief Witnessed, dedicated to exploring the nuances of bereavement.

Addressing public curiosity surrounding her remarriage, Shay shared insights into the conversations she held with Tanner regarding the future of their family, noting her late husband’s hope that she would eventually find a partner who would cherish AmyLou as his own.

Reflecting on the emotional evolution required to embrace a new relationship, the podcast host noted the distinction between progressing forward and leaving the past behind.

”I remember thinking to myself, even during the five years Tanner fought cancer, ‘I’m never going to remarry,’” Shay shared in her video. “And eventually, I changed, and decided that there is enough love to give. You can never run out of love, and I will never graduate from grief.”

She commended her new partner for honoring her history and supporting her ongoing connection to Tanner’s memory. As she steps into this new phase, Shay underscored that her primary duty remains to her household rather than the digital landscape, signaling an intent to uphold the core tenets of kindness and empathy championed by her late husband.
