Gunmen kidnap Local Govt worker, Filling station Attendant in Ondo

Gunmen have abducted a staff member of Akure North Local Government, Mr. Samson Gbenga Sanni, popularly known as “Timber,” at his residence in Ilu-Abo community, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident occurred at about 7:10 p.m. on Sunday when the assailants reportedly seized the victim in front of his home at Agbelere area of Ilu-Abo.

According to sources in the community, the gunmen, believed to be three in number, emerged from a nearby bush and forcefully whisked Mr. Sanni away to an unknown destination.

Sanni, who is said to be an indigene of Akunu-Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area, just returned home when the attackers struck.

Sources disclosed that his wife and two children were inside the house at the time of the abduction and watched helplessly as the gunmen carried out the operation.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command, Jimoh Abayomi confirmed the abduction.

The police spokesman stated that officers and tactical teams of the command had been mobilised to the area and were working to secure the safe rescue of the victim and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

The incident has thrown residents of the community into fear and renewed concerns over the growing insecurity in parts of Ondo State.

Meanwhile, report reaching ValidViewNetwork indicates that a female filling station attendant has been abducted while on duty at Emure Ile area of Owo local government area.

She was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the early hours of today.
