ABEOKUTA,OGUN STATE – The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Zoo Park has announced the successful hatching of six crocodile hatchlings, marking another milestone in its ongoing captive breeding program. The young reptiles emerged after a natural incubation period of approximately three months, during which the mother crocodile buried her eggs.

This recent development underscores the Zoo Park’s consistent dedication to the breeding of animals under its care and its commitment to enhancing species conservation efforts. This is the second instance of successful crocodile hatching at the facility, highlighting the effectiveness of the Park’s animal management protocols.
The emergence of these hatchlings represents significant progress in reptile husbandry at the zoo and strengthens its position as a vital center for practical conservation and wildlife education in the region.
Zoo management officials have expressed their enthusiasm about this achievement, stating their hope that it will encourage further targeted breeding programs for other captive species within the Park.
The newly hatched crocodiles are currently receiving close monitoring and care from zoo personnel. The public will have the opportunity to view the young reptiles, particularly during their basking periods.
