Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State – The Ark, the highly anticipated new auditorium at Living Faith Church World Headquarters in Canaanland, will be powered by an impressive 32 transformers upon its dedication in November, Bishop David Oyedepo announced yesterday. Speaking during the second service at Faith Tabernacle, Bishop Oyedepo highlighted the significant power demands of the sprawling new complex.
The Ark, boasting a 109,000-seat main bowl spread across four floors, will feature 129 elevators, travelators, and escalators to facilitate movement for worshippers, including the elderly and those requiring healing. The facility also encompasses a 5,000-capacity youth church and a 20,000-seat children’s church. Furthermore, the 12 twin tower mission headquarters will necessitate efficient vertical transportation for staff.
Acknowledging the increased power requirements, Bishop Oyedepo stated that the existing 15MW power plant installed in Canaanland in 2016 will be insufficient. The Dome, another key facility within Canaanland, will contribute 1MW of solar energy to the overall power supply. In a demonstration of sustainable design, the Ark’s roof is engineered to harvest rainwater for flushing its 1,200 restrooms, utilizing gravity.
To meet the substantial energy needs, a new, larger power plant, reportedly with an 80MW capacity, is currently under construction within Canaanland. This expanded infrastructure is expected to power the entire Canaanland estate, including The Ark, Covenant University, Canaan City, and potentially extending to parts of Ota.
Bishop Oyedepo emphasized the consistent power supply enjoyed within Canaanland since 1999, contrasting it with the frequent electricity outages experienced in other parts of Nigeria. The commissioning of The Ark and the new power plant mark a significant expansion of the infrastructure within the sprawling religious and educational complex.
