
LONDON, UK – A Nigerian national, Esosa Eguakin, has been sentenced to prison following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation into the sexual assault of two women on separate train journeys heading toward London.
The conviction follows a series of disturbing incidents where Eguakin targeted lone female passengers. According to court proceedings, the first assault occurred when Eguakin approached a woman on a Hampshire-to-London service, engaging in inappropriate and non-consensual sexual contact. A second victim later came forward, describing a similar pattern of predatory behavior on a different journey.
Detectives from the BTP utilized CCTV footage and witness testimonies to track Eguakin’s movements across the rail network. During the trial, the prosecution highlighted the traumatic impact on the victims, emphasizing the right of every passenger to travel without fear of harassment or violation.
Presiding over the case, the judge noted the predatory nature of Eguakin’s actions, sentencing him to a custodial term. In addition to his jail time, Eguakin has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which strictly limits his future interactions and travel.
