BENGALURU, India – The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru has apprehended a Nigerian national, identified as Chukwuma, on charges of drug peddling during a targeted raid in the city’s Avalahalli area.
The arrest, which occurred during an attempt to distribute narcotics, led to the seizure of MDMA and crystal substances with an estimated street value exceeding Rs 1.2 crore (approximately $144,000 USD).

The Narcotics Wing of the CCB conducted a swift and coordinated operation following weeks of surveillance on the accused. Preliminary investigations suggest that Chukwuma has been actively involved in the illicit drug trade since 2013, allegedly importing narcotics from abroad for distribution across Bengaluru, with a particular focus on the city’s outskirts.
Authorities believe Chukwuma’s activities are linked to a larger international drug syndicate. “He had been under close surveillance for several weeks,” an official stated, highlighting the meticulous planning behind the operation.
Chukwuma remains in custody as interrogations continue. The CCB is intensifying its investigation to dismantle the full extent of the drug network and identify any other individuals associated with the accused.
