ABUJA — The African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) has commended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, for his relentless leadership and strides in combating economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
During a high-level courtesy visit to the commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, the continental student body bestowed upon Olukoyede the prestigious Pan-African Leadership Hall of Fame Award, honoring him as Africa’s Patriotic Icon of Integrity and Leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the delegates, the Nigerian representative of ASUP, Comrade James Uneze, lauded the EFCC chairman’s exemplary record in tackling cyber fraud, money laundering, and economic sabotage. Uneze emphasized that Olukoyede’s visionary approach has not only brought stability to the nation’s financial landscape but has also renewed hope for young Africans seeking ethical governance and sustainable development.
”Today, we have a man of integrity, a man with confidence in the person of Mr. Ola Olukoyede, who is fighting immensely to ensure that Nigeria attains its economic glory,” Uneze stated. He added that the union’s advocacy extends beyond financial crimes to encompass broader youth-centric concerns, including campaigns against drug abuse and the proliferation of small arms across the continent.

Accepting the accolade on behalf of the EFCC Chairman, the Head of the Commission’s Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, Assistant Commander Aisha Mohammed, expressed appreciation for the recognition from the continent’s youth. Mohammed underscored that strategic partnerships remain vital to the commission’s operational success, noting that transparency and stakeholder collaboration are foundational to rooting out systemic corruption.
Highlighting Olukoyede’s wider regional influence, Mohammed pointed to his leadership role within the Network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIWA), reinforcing the commission’s commitment to cross-border cooperation and institutional synergy.
The delegation comprised student representatives from various African nations, including Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire, signaling a unified continental front in championing transparency, good governance, and youth empowerment.
