Three women from Market Harborough who triggered an international anxious search after disappearing during a vacation in South Africa have finally been found safe and well.
Liz Osborne, her niece Kimberlee Langley, and their companion Mel Wright were successfully located on Wednesday, November 5, following confirmation from local broadcasters and relieved family members. Authorities have yet to disclose the precise location where the trio was found or the exact circumstances that led to days of radio silence.
The group originally embarked on their journey to South Africa on October 22, with scheduled return flights back to the United Kingdom mapped between October 30 and November 1. Alarm bells began ringing when the women missed their anticipated arrivals and proved entirely unreachable by their worried relatives.
The situation escalated to an official missing persons case on November 4, driven by Liz’s daughter, Courtney. She took to social media to share an emotional public appeal, urging anyone with potential leads to contact law enforcement immediately. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office also stepped in to coordinate with officials as a major search operation got underway.
Early reports indicated that travel complications may have contributed to the ordeal, with local media hinting at a delayed return flight that was potentially diverted via France. However, whether the trio actually boarded that flight remains unconfirmed.
Relief has since swept through their home community after a final social media update from the family confirmed the good news: Kimberlee, Mel, and Liz are all accounted for and safe. Police investigations are ongoing to piece together the events surrounding the breakdown in communication.
