KAJOLA, OYO STATE — A desperate rescue mission by a devoted brother ended in unspeakable horror in the Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, after suspected kidnappers brutally beheaded an operative of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, who had volunteered to deliver a ransom.
The victim, Robert Olorode, met his gruesome fate on Friday, October 24, 2026, when he walked into a blood-soaked trap to secure the freedom of his sibling, Elijah Okeleye.
A Trail of Tragedy
According to community sources, the nightmare began on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, when Elijah Okeleye—a local resident of Afija’s Compound in Ilaji-Oke—was ambushed and abducted by heavily armed hoodlums while returning from his farm located in the Saaji-daada axis of Kajola.
The ruthless abductors initially slammed the family with a staggering N15 million ransom demand. Following days of intense psychological pressure and desperate negotiations by the grief-stricken family, the criminals reportedly beat the sum down to N500,000, promising to free the farmer upon delivery.
With time running out and the safety of his brother hanging in the balance, Robert Olorode—who secretly served as an Amotekun operative—volunteered to brave the dangerous covert mission alone, walking straight into the kidnappers’ hideout with the cash.
Instead of reuniting the brothers, the outlaws turned the humanitarian mission into a slaughterhouse. Upon his arrival at the designated drop spot on October 24, Olorode was overpowered and mercilessly beheaded by the captors, leaving his family shattered and the entire community reeling in shock.
Official Reaction
The traditional ruler of the community, the Bajigan of Ilaji-Oke, Oba Jeremiah Oyeboade Oladosu, verified the tragic incident when contacted by pressmen.
Oba Oladosu clarified that while Mr. Olorode was an active personnel of the Amotekun security corps, he embarked on the perilous ransom delivery run strictly as a private citizen and a loving brother, rather than in an official security capacity.
As of the time of filing this report, local security formations and police operatives have intensified manhunts in the area, while grief and tension grip residents of Kajola Local Government Area over the escalating brutality of criminal syndicates operating within rural farm settlements.
