APC Names 33 Entertainers to Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has brought some of Nigeria’s biggest entertainment names into its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Nollywood actresses Eniola Badmus, Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi and Bimbo Akintola, alongside Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, are among 33 personalities listed under the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.

The list was released on Thursday ahead of the formal inauguration of the Lagos APC campaign council on Friday, September 18, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.

Who Holds Key Positions?

According to the list, Toke Benson-Awoyinka will serve as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Jide Kosoko will serve as Co-Director. Eniola Badmus was named Deputy Director, with Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, as Secretary. Dare Olateju is listed as Assistant Secretary.

The directorate includes prominent names from Nollywood, Yoruba theatre and Fuji music, reflecting the party’s decision to create a dedicated structure for the entertainment and creative sector.

Part of a Wider 2027 Campaign Structure

The entertainment directorate is only one part of the wider Lagos APC campaign council.

The council lists Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Chairman and Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as Deputy Chairman, while former Lagos governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode are among those included in the party’s broader advisory structure.

Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is listed as Director-General.

The development comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 elections, with campaign structures being assembled across different sectors and constituencies.

For the entertainment industry, the new directorate places actors, filmmakers, musicians and other creative professionals directly within the APC’s Lagos campaign organisation.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the inclusion of the 33 entertainers gives the Lagos APC campaign council a dedicated platform for engaging a sector with a significant cultural and public reach, while the actual roles and activities of the directorate will become clearer after its formal inauguration.

The appointments do not, by themselves, establish the individual political views of every person listed beyond their inclusion in the party’s campaign structure.

Their formal participation in the directorate, however, places them within the APC’s organised campaign machinery for the 2027 electoral cycle.
