Tensions surrounding the recently concluded Osun State governorship election have spilled over into a public social media clash, with popular musician David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, launching a scathing attack on House of Representatives member James Faleke.
The feud erupted following the fierce contest that saw incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke secure a second term under the Accord Party. Governor Adeleke clinched victory after polling 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 444,815 votes.
As collation unfolded in Osogbo, Davido publicly accused Faleke and other APC lawmakers of attempting to manipulate and subvert the electoral mandate of the Osun people by mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
While Faleke dismissed the allegations, asserting that his presence in the state was merely to support his party and equivalent to the singer’s open campaign for his uncle, Davido refused to back down. Taking to social media to fire a final salvo at the lawmaker, the award-winning artiste wrote: “Politics is not a career. Get a Job!”
