​Nollywood icon and filmmaker Funke Akindele has offered a rare glimpse into the grueling reality behind her record-breaking success, revealing that the N2.7 billion gross of her latest cinematic triumph, Behind The Scenes, demanded profound personal sacrifices.

​In a recent interview, the box-office powerhouse candidly addressed the high cost of her creative process, describing a period defined by intense dedication, sleepless nights, and the deliberate neglect of her social and personal life.

​“To get all these achievements, for the last movie to cross N2.7 billion, it was a lot of sleepless nights for me. A lot of sacrifice, giving my all. I forget to eat sometimes,” Akindele shared.

​The filmmaker admitted that her commitment to her craft led her to sideline even basic self-care routines. “I abandoned myself for work,” she confessed. “I don’t even make my hair, except I’m going on the red carpet or for something very important. I don’t attend parties. I don’t go to greet people at home. I put everything into work—research, writing, work. I’m neck-deep into work.”
