​Legal Counsel Seeks Forgiveness for DJ Chicken Over Seyi Tinubu Remarks

​The legal counsel for popular TikTok personality and Disc Jockey, Ademola Abiodun—widely known as DJ Chicken—has publicly appealed to the family of President Bola Tinubu for leniency following the entertainer’s arrest. The development comes after the influencer allegedly made inflammatory remarks concerning the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

​In a video statement released on Thursday, the lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed that his client was taken into custody in Ikeja, Lagos. While the exact agency responsible for the detention remains unconfirmed, Stephen suggested that the Department of State Services (DSS) may be involved, alongside the Nigeria Police Force.

​The controversy stems from a viral video clip in which DJ Chicken was recorded making a direct threat. Speaking in Yoruba, the entertainer had declared, “Tinubu, you can’t win the election. If you win, I will kill Seyi Tinubu. I won’t say more than that”.

​In his plea for intervention, Stephen described the entertainer as a “personal project” and a young individual he has been mentoring. He further alluded to the entertainer’s psychological state, urging the public and those close to the presidency to view the incident through the lens of mental health concerns.

​“He is not that okay. We are just managing him,” Stephen stated. “I am calling on fans, well-wishers, and those close to the Presidency to please help us beg. The government should please forgive him; we will do everything to ensure he behaves.”

​As of Thursday night, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the DSS had issued an official statement regarding the arrest or the specific charges being leveled against the influencer. The legal representative expressed frustration over the situation, noting that he is currently exploring all avenues to secure his client’s release.
