Cult Murder: PAAU Bans Student Vehicles, Seals Gates In Major Security Lockdown

​ANYIGBA, KOGI STATE — The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has announced a sweeping, immediate overhaul of its campus security architecture. The aggressive restrictions follow the brutal, cult-related murder of a 300-level Biochemistry student, David Ocholi Solomon, on June 11.

​In a decisive move to reclaim the campus from criminal elements, the university has banned all student-owned cars and motorcycles, drastically restricted campus entry points, and mandated an absolute lockdown on unauthorized student gatherings.

​A Campus in Mourning

​The crisis erupted last Thursday when suspected cultists attacked and killed Solomon within the university community. The institutional response was swift: PAAU internal security operatives tracked and apprehended two fellow students suspected of executing the attack within two hours of the incident. The suspects, who were caught in their hideout in Anyigba while finalizing plans to flee the town, have since been handed over to state law enforcement agencies.

​Vice-Chancellor Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo, who received the harrowing news while attending a national academic conference at the University of Ibadan, led a management delegation on a condolence visit to the bereaved family in Lokoja.

​”This is deeply painful and distressing; the news has plunged the entire university community into mourning,” Professor Ogbo stated, reaffirming the institution’s absolute zero-tolerance policy for cultism and violent criminality.

​The victim’s father, Mr. Solomon Idachaba, commended the university’s lightning-fast internal security response but implored authorities to ensure absolute justice is served.

​Sweeping Security Directives Issued

​Following the 401st Regular Meeting of the University Management Committee, a strict directive signed by the Registrar, Siyaka Audu, outlined several emergency protocols aimed at protecting staff, students, and visitors.

​The immediate enforcement measures include:

• ​Total Student Vehicle Ban: No student is permitted to bring personal cars or motorcycles onto the campus until further notice. This specifically targets popular commercial and private brands including Haojue, TVS, and other “rubber-rubber” bikes.
• ​Contraband Vehicles Barred: Vehicles featuring tinted windows or concealed number plates are completely barred from accessing university territory.
• ​Gate Closures and Perimeters: The campus main gate will now serve as the exclusive point of entry and exit for vehicular traffic. All alternative gates have been permanently sealed for vehicles and will strictly permit pedestrian access only.
• ​Mandatory Identification: Every student and staff member must visibly display their institutional identity cards at all times while on campus.
• ​Logistics and Speed Controls: The Chief Security Officer (CSO) has been mandated to register all commercial motorcycle operators through their union leaders and enforce a strict 35km/h speed limit.
• ​Tally System Fees: Valid vehicle owners must obtain a physical Vehicle Identification Tally from the security division. Misplacing this tally will now attract an immediate ₦5,000 fine.
• ​Physical Infrastructure Changes: The CSO, alongside the Directors of Physical Planning and Works and Maintenance, has been ordered to immediately erect physical blockades across all identified illegal routes leaking into the campus footprint.

​To cushion the transport friction caused by the wholesale vehicle ban, the university management confirmed that a fleet of solar-powered tricycles will immediately be deployed to complement the existing campus shuttle system.

​An 11-man investigative committee is currently probing the security breach to identify any further internal or external facilitators. University management has warned that anyone found undermining these emergency regulations, or participating in unsanctioned student associations, will face immediate expulsion and prosecution.
