Ondo Police Tighten Security Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir, Children’s Day Celebrations

The Ondo State Police Command has intensified security operations across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations, assuring residents of a peaceful, hitch-free and crime-free festive period.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, directed the deployment of personnel and operational assets to critical locations before, during and after the celebrations.

According to the statement, operatives from Tactical Units, the Police Mobile Force, Intelligence Department, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Command Surveillance Squad, Traffic Units and other security teams have been stationed at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, major highways and public facilities across the state.

The Commissioner of Police also ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Tactical Teams to intensify visibility policing, intelligence gathering, stop-and-search operations, patrols and surveillance, especially in identified flashpoints and vulnerable communities.

The command added that operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Violent Crime Response Unit and Traffic Management Teams have been placed on high alert to ensure effective crowd control, rapid emergency response and smooth traffic flow during the festive period.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant, obey the law and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, while also avoiding reckless driving, unlawful gatherings and actions capable of disrupting public peace.

The police command also joined families, schools and children in celebrating Children’s Day, describing children as critical stakeholders in nation-building and calling on parents, guardians and institutions to continue protecting and nurturing them.

CP Felix Ohagwu warned criminal elements against any attempt to disrupt peace in the state, stressing that the command is fully prepared to deal decisively with all forms of criminality in line with the law.

The command wished Muslim faithful and residents of Ondo State a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration and a memorable Children’s Day.
