The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has activated a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as the political platform expands its nationwide structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council includes zonal coordinators, representatives for all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as directors responsible for key campaign functions.
The movement announced the structure on Thursday, with John Ughulu, its Director-General, named Director-General of the campaign.
National Secretary Saadatu Sani is also part of the campaign leadership.
Six Zones, 36 States
The structure provides representation across the six geopolitical zones. The zonal coordinators are Suleiman Abubakar for North-Central, Hashimu Dungurawa for North-West, Amadu Gwambe for North-East, Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for South-West, Christopher Ighodaro for South-South and El-Shaddai Ikeh for South-East.
The council also has directors covering grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration.
The movement says the structure is intended to take its political message and programme from the national level down to states, local government areas, wards and communities.
Part of the Obi-Kwankwaso Project
The OK Movement presents itself as a platform mobilising support for the joint political project involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, who are associated with the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential ticket for 2027.
The campaign council is therefore not simply an administrative list. It represents the movement’s attempt to establish a nationwide organisation capable of coordinating volunteers, communication, mobilisation and political engagement across the federation.
In a message to the new appointees, Sani described the assignment as a responsibility requiring discipline, loyalty, humility, courage and coordinated work.
The movement said it wanted members to take its message across the country and engage Nigerians at the grassroots.
What the Structure Means
ValidViewNetwork reports that the significance of the announcement lies primarily in organisation rather than electoral outcome.
The 59-member structure gives the movement a defined chain of coordination across the country, but the effectiveness of any campaign structure will depend on its ability to operate on the ground, communicate its programme and sustain engagement with voters.
The announcement also adds another layer to the increasingly active political preparations for 2027, with parties and political movements beginning to assemble national and grassroots structures.
For voters, the more important question will eventually be what each political platform proposes on the economy, security, power, jobs, education, healthcare and institutional reform.
The campaign machinery can carry a message. The substance of that message is what citizens will ultimately have to examine. ValidViewNetwork reports.
