Abeokuta, Ogun State – In a remarkable display of public spirit and compassion, Folahan Olayiwola, a former Student Union president of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has donated his entire National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) allowance to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Abeokuta. This extraordinary act of generosity saw Olayiwola save his monthly stipends throughout his service year, accumulating a total of N640,000, which he used to procure essential medical equipment for the hospital.
Olayiwola’s donation includes three wheelchairs and four pairs of crutches, vital aids that will undoubtedly improve the mobility and comfort of patients at the Federal Medical Centre. This gesture comes at a time when many young Nigerians are grappling with personal economic challenges, making his sacrifice even more impactful.
Sources confirm that Folahan Olayiwola, known by his moniker “Reform” during his tenure as OAU’s Students’ Union President (2021/2022 academic session), has consistently advocated for student welfare, including health and accommodation. His leadership style, focused on purpose over fanfare, seems to have seamlessly transitioned into his post-university life.

His decision to channel his NYSC allowance towards supporting a public health institution in Abeokuta underscores a profound commitment to community service and a desire to leave a lasting positive mark. This act serves as a powerful reminder of the potential for youth leadership to inspire hope and drive tangible change within society, even in the face of widespread difficulties. Olayiwola’s selflessness is a testament to the true spirit of service to humanity.
