Woro Abductions: Captors Reject N155m, Issue Forced Marriage Threat

​KAIAMA — Families of the 176 residents abducted from the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State are facing renewed agony after terrorists reportedly rejected a ransom of over N155 million raised through collective community efforts.

​The victims, predominantly women and children, were seized following a devastating raid on the community. Months into the harrowing ordeal, distress has deepened following threats from the abductors. According to community sources, the terrorists have warned that they would force attractive female captives into marriage while executing the remaining hostages if their stringent demands are not met.

​Speaking on the development via interviews monitored on broadcast channels, local indigene Abdul Ibrahim lamented that despite exhausting all financial and communal resources, relief remains elusive.

​“We have done everything within our means. The money was raised, yet our people have not been released. Their suffering continues, and families are living in agony,” Ibrahim stated, noting that previous peaceful demonstrations staged by community members failed to spur the desired intervention.

​The situation follows months of intense security challenges in the region, which stems from coordinated incursions into rural communities across Kaiama. While security forces have maintained a presence in parts of the state following high-level visits and tactical deployments, families of the trapped victims continue to call on the Federal Government and state authorities to urgently intensify rescue operations before the terrorists execute their threats.
