Dr. Wendy Osefo, a prominent cast member of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Potomac, and her husband Eddie Osefo were arrested on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Westminster, Maryland, following allegations of a sophisticated insurance fraud scheme. The couple faces a total of 16 charges, seven of which are felonies, related to falsely reporting a burglary and submitting fraudulent insurance claims valued at over $450,000.
The charges stem from an incident dating back to April 2024, when the Osefos reported that their home had been burglarized during their trip to Jamaica. They claimed a significant loss of luxury items including designer handbags, jewelry, clothing, and shoes worth more than $200,000. However, a police investigation uncovered troubling inconsistencies that raised doubts about the legitimacy of their claims.
Authorities found that many of the items reported stolen were either still in the couple’s possession or had been returned to stores for full refunds prior to the alleged burglary. Evidence collected from emails, social media posts, and a search warrant executed at their home pointed to a conspiracy to defraud insurance companies.
Court documents reveal that the couple provided false and misleading information that inflated their insurance claims by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Wendy Osefo is charged with seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one count of making a false statement to law enforcement. Her husband, Eddie, faces the same charges plus two additional felony counts.
Following their arrest and booking, both were released on bail with bond set at $50,000 each. Legal representatives for the couple issued a statement expressing gratitude for the support they have received and emphasized that the Osefos are cooperating with authorities while preparing for their court proceedings scheduled for November.
This high-profile case adds to a history of legal troubles involving stars from the Real Housewives franchise, echoing past incidents such as Teresa Giudice’s and Jen Shah’s convictions related to financial fraud.
As the investigation continues and the legal process unfolds, fans and followers of the reality series watch closely as one of the franchise’s influential stars faces serious allegations that could result in substantial prison time if convicted.
