The royal family of Ilado mourns the peaceful passing of Mrs. Christine Mary-Blythe Johnson, former wife of the late Oba Adeyinka Oyekan II, who died in the early hours of October 10, 2025, at the age of 93. Mrs. Johnson’s death comes just five days before the 70th birthday celebration of her eldest son, Oba Mobadenle Oyekan, the current Onilado of Ilado, Inagbe, and Lagos.

Born in an era that spanned almost a century, Mrs. Christine Mary-Blythe Johnson was a revered matriarch whose life intertwined deeply with the history of Lagos royalty. She was the cherished wife of Oba Adeyinka Oyekan II, the Oba of Lagos from 1965 to 2003, a distinguished monarch known for his dedication to cultural preservation, education advocacy, and social justice in Lagos. The Oba, who passed in 2003, was a pharmacist and a World War II veteran, remembered as a pacifist who fostered community unity.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by six devoted children and grandchildren, including:
- Miss Offiong Brodie-Mends
- Oba Mobadenle Oyekan (Onilado of Ilado)
- Prince Isiola Oyekan
- Prince Ademiju Oyekan (Retired Commissioner of Police)
- Pastor (Prince) Adeyinka Oyekan
- Miss Belinda Orubu
Her legacy of grace, resilience, and nurturing spirit will forever be treasured by her family and the people of Ilado. The family requests prayers for her soul to rest in perfect peace.

May the memory of Mrs. Christine Mary-Blythe Johnson inspire generations to come as a symbol of dignity and maternal strength.
