As the offensive entered its second day, the Pentagon reported that three U.S. service members were killed and five others seriously wounded. While officials initially withheld the location of the incident, sources speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed the casualties occurred during a missile and drone strike on a military installation in Kuwait.

President Donald Trump, briefing the nation from Washington, struck a defiant tone, claiming that 48 high-ranking Iranian leaders have been neutralized.
