Two Nigerian Women Nabbed with N380M Cocaine

​NEW DELHI — Operatives of the Delhi Police Railway Unit have dismantled an interstate narcotics distribution syndicate, arresting two Nigerian women with approximately 2.3 kilograms of high-grade cocaine.

​The contraband, intercepted at the bustling Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, carries an estimated street value of ₹20 crore—roughly translated to N380 million—on the international market.

​According to law enforcement authorities, the suspects were identified as 43-year-old Chikanso James and 41-year-old Happiness Okoye. The breakthrough occurred during a routine security sweep by the Special Staff of the Railway Unit stationed at Platform No. 1.

​Officers on anti-narcotics patrol flagged the two foreign nationals, who were navigating the terminal carrying heavy luggage under suspicious circumstances. A subsequent search of their bags yielded 11 discrete packets filled with a suspicious white powdery substance.

​Field testing conducted alongside a specialized Crime Team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts conclusively verified the substance as commercial-grade cocaine.

​Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railway) B. Bharat Reddy noted that preliminary interrogations revealed the syndicate was actively moving supplies along a primary trafficking corridor connecting the National Capital Region (NCR) to Mumbai.

​Initial disclosures made by Chikanso James indicate that the illicit consignment was picked up from the Vikaspuri area in west Delhi.

​Both suspects have been formally booked under stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigators have also secured the official passports of the accused. While James remains remanded in police custody, Okoye has been transitioned to judicial custody as specialized teams work to trace financial trails and uncover forward and backward linkages within the wider transnational network.
