A Rescue in the North-West
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped woman and disrupted a planned ransom exchange in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
ValidViewNetwork gathered that the operation followed credible intelligence about a planned ransom payment for the woman, who was abducted from her farm last month.
Acting spokesperson for the troops, Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, explained that the troops swiftly mobilised to intercept the transaction. When the terrorists spotted the advancing troops, they attempted to engage them.
But superior firepower forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, leaving the hostage behind.
“The engagement forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, abandoning the hostage, who was subsequently secured by our troops,” Osoba said.
The victim was found unharmed and safely transported to reunite with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.
Clearing the Area
Following the rescue, troops conducted a thorough exploitation of the terrorists’ withdrawal route to ensure the area was fully secured.
In a separate operation, troops conducted routine clearance and dominance patrols across parts of Ngaski Local Government Area, successfully completed without incident.
“We will keep the fire on everywhere the terrorists are. We will dismantle them to secure Kebbi State and Nigeria,” Osoba said.
The military spokesman urged residents to strengthen cooperation with security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence.
ValidViewNetwork understands that the rescue operation is part of broader efforts to combat banditry and terrorism in the North-West region, which has been plagued by insecurity in recent years.
