However, the Ondo State Police Command has officially denied the involvement of the First Lady’s convoy in the incident. According to the police spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, investigations and eyewitness accounts confirmed that the accident was caused by a hit-and-run driver in an unregistered white Lexus vehicle, not any vehicle associated with the First Lady’s convoy. A witness pursued the fleeing driver on a motorcycle immediately after the crash, and multiple testimonies, including those of the victim’s parents, support this account.
The police commissioner personally met with the grieving family and assured a thorough investigation. The victim’s body has been released to her family for burial according to Islamic rites. The police have appealed to the public to provide any information that could help apprehend the hit-and-run driver.
