Within the ruling All Progressives Congress, discussions are reportedly centring on governors and former governors capable of coordinating President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

Among the names being mentioned are Hope Uzodimma and Tanko Al-Makura. In the opposition African Democratic Congress, reports indicate that former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has emerged as a leading contender to direct former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s campaign.

The Labour Party has confirmed that its campaign structure is already in place, although party officials have yet to publicly announce the identity of its Director General.

Other political parties, including the Social Democratic Party, the New Nigeria People’s Party and the National Democratic Congress, have also indicated that their campaign organisations will be unveiled before the Independent National Electoral Commission’s deadline.

While these appointments may appear administrative, they often determine fundraising, coalition building, message discipline, crisis management and the daily coordination required for a national campaign.
