Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, took legal action on Thursday against Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, for defamation of character.
This move came after Adams was recorded in an audio conversation alleging that Igboho is involved in criminal activities and linked to the assassination of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige, in 2001.
In the lawsuit filed at the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, Igboho is demanding N500 million in aggravated damages over the leaked audio, which he claims tarnished his reputation.

The suit addresses the slanderous and libelous nature of the content, seeking retractions and apologies from Adams, as well as the removal of defamatory content from all media platforms.
Igboho’s legal action also seeks a perpetual injunction against Adams from further defamatory statements and demands exemplary damages along with the cost of litigation.
