Newborn Baby Rescued Alive From Toilet Tank

A newborn baby girl was miraculously rescued after being found alive abandoned inside a toilet cistern on the third floor of an office building in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district, Thailand. A housekeeper heard faint crying from the bathroom pipes while cleaning around 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15. Upon lifting the toilet tank lid, the cleaner discovered the naked infant submerged in water, her hands pale and wrinkled from prolonged exposure. The baby still had a freshly cut umbilical cord, indicating she was less than a day old.

Emergency responders quickly took the infant to Sirindhorn Hospital, where doctors confirmed she weighed approximately 2.7 kilograms and was unharmed despite the harrowing conditions. Police launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from the building to identify the person who abandoned her. According to Police Captain Kritsada Saikhong, the baby’s mother was nowhere to be found at the scene, and authorities are actively searching for her.

Under Section 306 of the Thai Penal Code, parents or guardians who abandon a newborn face penalties including up to three years in prison, a fine of up to 6,000 baht (around £140), or both. The baby remains in hospital care while police continue their inquiry.
