Professor Banji Akintoye, the Leader of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, has declared his intention to return to Nigeria, following the recent arrival of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.
Akintoye had been in self-exile since Igboho’s incarceration in Benin Republic.
The announcement was made during a reception held in honor of Igboho’s late mother, Sarah Adeyemo, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Speaking through his spokesperson, Gani Alagbala, who came from the United States of America, Akintoye expressed his joy at Igboho’s victory and return to Nigeria, stating, “I am highly fulfilled as a Yoruba to witness the victory of Igboho and his eventual return to Nigeria after a long battle with the authorities. I can now return to Nigeria.”
In his remarks at the event, Igboho accused some anti-democratic forces of plotting to undermine democracy in Nigeria.

He criticized the past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for its alleged mismanagement of the economy and failure to address security challenges, which he believes have contributed to the current hardship faced by Nigerians.
Igboho reiterated his commitment to the peaceful agitation for the Yoruba nation, condemning the killings, kidnappings, and other criminal activities perpetrated by herders and bandits in the Southwest.
He emphasized the importance of restructuring Nigeria to ensure peace and harmonious coexistence among ethnic groups.
Addressing his own experiences, Igboho stated that he had been targeted by security agencies under the Buhari administration, resulting in the loss of lives and destruction of property.
However, he affirmed his readiness to cooperate with the authorities if approached through legal channels.
Asserting his rights as a law-abiding citizen, Igboho vowed not to submit to any unlawful acts against him, expressing confidence in the support of governors in the Southwest to uphold justice and prevent impunity.
He called for respect for fundamental human rights and adherence to the rule of law in the country.
