Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, accused human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore of owning a $552,000 mansion in the US valued at about N885 million. Olayinka’s claim was made on his verified X handle and accompanied allegations that Sowore is the sole proprietor of the African Action Congress (AAC), holding titles as Chairman, Financial Secretary, and Presidential Candidate. He further alleged Sowore’s party members suspended him for corruption, calling Sowore a “cashtivist” due to the mansion ownership and other claims of corruption including selling party governorship tickets and misappropriating grants during EndSARS protests.
Sowore, known for founding Sahara Reporters and contesting the 2023 presidential election under AAC, faces serious accusations from Olayinka who describes Sowore’s political party as a “sole proprietorship” run with little internal democracy. The ongoing dispute contextualizes wider legal and political battles as Sowore contends with charges related to his activism and opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The mansion claim is part of a broader political clash featuring accusations and counteraccusations involving corruption, property ownership, and questions about Sowore’s integrity as he faces both legal scrutiny and internal dissent within AAC. This development adds to the tense atmosphere surrounding Sowore’s political future and public trust.
