ABUJA — The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended a young man, identified simply as Musa, following the gruesome discovery of his mother’s body in their Abuja residence. Musa is alleged to have bludgeoned his mother, Nana, to death after she reportedly refused to hand over ₦40 million in inheritance money.
The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the Federal Capital Territory, reportedly stems from a bitter dispute over the family’s estate. Sources familiar with the matter indicate that Musa had been pressuring his mother to release the funds to finance a business venture and relocation to Canada.
Fearing that her son would squander the significant sum, Nana had consistently denied the request—a decision that allegedly cost her her life on Monday night.
A Grisly Discovery
In a chilling turn of events, the suspect reportedly remained in the house with his mother’s lifeless body for several days, making no attempt to alert authorities or medical personnel. During this period, he reportedly continued his daily routine as if nothing had happened.
The silence was broken only when DSS operatives, acting on intelligence, swooped in on the residence. At the time of his arrest, Musa was reportedly returning to the house with a takeaway meal, driving his late mother’s vehicle.

Final Rites
The tragic saga drew a somber crowd to the National Mosque in Abuja on Thursday, where funeral prayers were held for the deceased. Following the prayers, Nana was laid to rest according to Islamic rites, leaving neighbors and family members in mourning over a life cut short by greed.
While the DSS has not yet released a formal statement regarding the specific charges, security sources confirm that the suspect remains in custody as investigations into the homicide continue.
