Russia has begun providing Iran with detailed intelligence on US military positions in the Middle East, including warships and aircraft locations, according to US officials cited in a Washington Post report. This “comprehensive” support comes as Iran’s own surveillance capabilities have been degraded by recent US and Israeli strikes targeting its leadership and infrastructure. The assistance signals Moscow’s indirect entry into the conflict that erupted on February 28, 2026, amid heightened regional tensions.
White House Assesses Iran Losses
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that Iranian forces face severe setbacks, with ballistic missile attacks down significantly, naval assets destroyed, and production crippled. “The Iranian regime is being absolutely crushed,” she declared, noting proxies are offering minimal resistance. While Russia and China coordinate diplomatically, no evidence shows Beijing providing similar military aid to Tehran.
Deadly Drone Strike in Kuwait
An Iranian drone breached defenses at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait, killing six US service members—four identified Army reservists from an Iowa unit—in a strike on a tactical operations center. President Donald Trump offered condolences, warning of potential further casualties as the war progresses. This marks the first confirmed US military deaths since joining Israel’s campaign against Iran.
