​PSC Appoints AIG Auwal POLAC Commandant, Deploys Eight CPs

​ABUJA — In a major strategic realignment to reinforce operational efficiency and address administrative vacancies, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State.

​The commission also sanctioned the immediate posting of eight new Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands across the country. According to an official statement signed by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Relations, the redeployments became necessary following the recent promotion of former commissioners and are structured to sustain vital operational exigencies.

​A Wealth of Experience for POLAC

​The newly appointed POLAC Commandant, AIG Auwal Musa Mohammed, steps into his new role with a distinguished career spanning over three decades in the Nigeria Police Force. Boasting more than 33 years of cumulative expertise in tactical operations, criminal investigations, intelligence-led policing, and human capacity training, AIG Mohammed is widely regarded as a seasoned administrator.

​Academically, he holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University, Kano. His extensive service record includes pivotal leadership positions such as Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri; Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State; and AIG overseeing Zones 3 and 6. He is also an active member of the prestigious International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

​Strict Charge on Neutrality and Rule of Law

​Presiding over the high-level commission meeting, a distinguished board member and Honourable Commissioner 1, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, rtd), delivered a stern charge to the newly posted senior officers.

​Urging them to prioritize national interest and professional ethics, Justice Galumje charged the officers to stand firm, strictly uphold the rule of law, and maintain absolute political neutrality and diligence in the discharge of their duties.

​The meeting also drew the presence of other esteemed board members, including Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, Hon. Justice Christine Ladi Dabup (rtd), and the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
