Prince Andrew Relinquishes Royal Titles Amid Scandals

Prince Andrew has formally relinquished the use of his royal titles, including the Duke of York, after consultations with His Majesty King Charles and members of the royal family. Giuffre accused Jeffrey Epstein of trafficking her and forcing her into sexual encounters with his associates as a minor, including Prince Andrew. She alleges that these encounters took place at Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands, his Manhattan residence, and in London at the home of Ghislaine Maxwell.

The prince has consistently and vigorously denied the allegations. Despite this denial, the lawsuit led to a severe public backlash. In 2019, after a poorly received BBC interview addressing the accusations, Prince Andrew stepped back from public duties.
