The Rivers State House of Assembly has seen a new factional Speaker emerge, Victor Jumbo, who hails from the Bonny Constituency.
Jumbo is among the four lawmakers loyal to State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The emergence of Jumbo follows the political crisis that has rocked the state, with tensions between Governor Fubara and his estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Previously, Edison Ehie served as the factional Speaker, leading the pro-Fubara lawmakers.

However, Ehie later resigned from the Assembly after intervention from President Bola Tinubu aimed at brokering peace between Fubara and Wike.
Following his resignation, Ehie was appointed Chief of Staff at the Rivers State Government House by Fubara.
The confirmation of Jumbo’s emergence as Speaker came from a source within the Government House in Port Harcourt, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The source confirmed that Jumbo was elected by his colleagues during a sitting in Port Harcourt.
While further details are yet to emerge, this development underscores the ongoing political dynamics within the Rivers State political landscape.
