Police authorities disclosed that the victim, Inspector Ige Olayinka of the Area Command, Okitipupa, was attacked while carrying out an official assignment tied to a petition under investigation.
Findings indicated that the officer was accosted by a group who assaulted her and dispossessed her of a service riot gun alongside personal effects during the encounter.
Following the development, operatives were mobilised without delay, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Ajemigi Amos, Ofoezu Tari and Alonge Lot.
The command confirmed that the stolen service weapon was successfully recovered in the course of the operation.

He stressed that the command would not tolerate any act of violence against officers performing legitimate duties.
Lawal also reassured residents of the command’s resolve to sustain security efforts across the state, urging the public to volunteer useful information to support crime-fighting initiatives.
The police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property, while commending residents for their ongoing cooperation.
