The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has issued a final 14-day ultimatum to Durantee Farm Limited, located in the Challenge area of Ibadan, following persistent violations of environmental and public health regulations.
The directive comes after a joint inspection on February 9, 2026, conducted by OYRLEA and health officials from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. The team discovered that the company had ignored a previous 21-day “Notice to Abate Nuisance” served in November 2025 regarding the illegal discharge of untreated effluents into public water bodies.

Failure to Comply
Despite the ample time provided since the initial notice, enforcement officers noted a total lack of corrective action. The primary concern remains the company’s open Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), which requires urgent structural modification, reconstruction, and covering to prevent further environmental degradation.
During the visit, the farm’s Human Resources and Administration Manager, Alhaji Ebunade Oloyeede, attributed the delay to a pending approval from the Ministry of Environment. However, OYRLEA has demanded immediate proof of these claims, including:
- Verifiable evidence of a consultant’s engagement.
- Official project drawings for the facility upgrade.
- Stamped proof of correspondence with the Ministry.
Stern Warnings
Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information, emphasized that the state would not tolerate negligence that jeopardizes the health of Ibadan residents. Should Durantee Farm fail to comply within this final 14-day window, the state will initiate strict enforcement actions in accordance with Oyo State environmental laws.
