Two distinguished Islamic scholars, Sheikh Muhyidini Salman Bello, the Grand Chief Imam of Offa, and Sheikh Abubakar Isah Authentic Solatty, delivered insightful sermons at the event. Both clerics lauded Hon. Adeyemi’s dedication to the Islamic community, exemplified by the construction of the modern mosque in remembrance of his late father, Oba Adeyemi III.
The Grand Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhyidini Salman Bello, urged attendees to emulate Hon. Adeyemi’s exemplary leadership in choosing a lasting act of worship over transient commemorations. He referenced the Quran, stating that “whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise,” encouraging others to invest in such enduring good deeds.
Usatz Abubakar Authentic Solatty praised Hon. Akeem Adeyemi’s commitment to the development of Oyo, noting that the parliamentarian consistently prioritizes the town’s progress in his interactions. He called upon the people of Oyo to continue supporting their “golden son” in his endeavors to serve the community.
Speaking before the commissioning, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi explained that the mosque’s construction fulfilled a recurring wish expressed by his late father in his dreams. He stated that when presented with three requests from the Alfathu-L-Qareeb Muslim Organization, he chose to prioritize the mosque, despite its higher cost, due to these vivid dreams. “Today’s commissioning is simply the fulfillment of what Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi demanded,” he affirmed.
The event saw a strong representation from various Islamic organizations in Oyo, including Alfathu-L-Qareeb, Ansarudeen, Anwarul-Islam, NASFAT, Ansarul-Huda, NACOMYO, the Kosobo Muslim community, and the Muslim communities of the Federal College of Education (Special) and Emmanuel Alayande University.
A poignant moment of the ceremony was the recitation of the panegyric of Alaafin Atiba, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, and the current Alaafin Owoade by the late Alaafin’s wives, led by Ayaba Ramat Adedayo Adeyemi. Following this, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade officially commissioned the mosque.
Notably, the mosque features a state-of-the-art ablution space, equipped with nine standard toilet and bathroom facilities. In a gesture of profound respect, the mosque has been named ‘Oba Adeyemi III Qareeb Mosque’, while the impressive ablution center has been named ‘Ayaba Sulat Adeyemi Ablution Center’. The commissioning marks a significant addition to the religious landscape of Oyo Town and stands as a lasting legacy in honor of the revered late Alaafin.
