Otedola Pledges ₦4 Billion for Augustine University Engineering Expansion

Billionaire businessman and philanthropist Femi Otedola has pledged ₦4 billion to Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, specifically earmarked for constructing a state-of-the-art Electrical and Electronics Engineering block. This marks the second phase of the Dame Doja Otedola Faculty of Engineering—named to honor his late mother, Lady Doja Otedola—and builds upon his earlier ₦2 billion contribution toward the Faculty of Engineering’s establishment.

Otedola, who serves as the Chancellor of the Catholic-owned Augustine University, made the announcement on Friday during the institution’s 7th Convocation Ceremony and 10th anniversary celebration. As part of the pledge, a ₦500 million cheque was presented to formally commence the project, with construction expected to be completed in time for the university’s 2026 convocation.

The new faculty block will house specialized facilities, including industry-grade electrical and electronics laboratories, control systems, and renewable energy teaching modules—aligning with national priorities in grid modernization and localized manufacturing technology. University officials described the project as a crucial boost for technical education in Nigeria, significantly enhancing the capacity and resources available to students.
